We are following up the New Music Friday vibe with another new release. This time, we go across the Atlantic for new sounds from an artist who hails from Norway, Ivan Ave, and recently released a new track titled Triple Double Love. The new track is set to be on his upcoming project, Double Goodbyes.
When first listening to the track, I felt it gave off a dazing type of feel. The song has a laid back melody with an old school drum beat. For me, hearing the lyrics and noticing the title, it brought the movie “Love & Basketball” to mind. I feel this definitely could have blended into the soundtrack for that movie based on its vibe. This song, as well as Ivan Ave’s music in general, is influenced by hip hop and R&B from the 90s, from the likes of the Fugees and Janet Jackson, and also 70s jazz and soul. I expect there to be a similar vibe with the remaining tracks from the upcoming EP.
