The Game Is The Game by Kerry Blu is one of the best songs I have heard in a while. This is not because the lyrics blow you out of the water or the delivery is something out of this world. It is because the song is well put together. As a person who listens to a lot of independent music from many different artists, it seems many artist forget they are putting a song together and need to give the same attention to the end of the song as they do to the beginning. To me, Kerry Blu does that with The Game Is The Game.
Like other listeners, the beat is the first thing that caught my attention. The song has a nice boom bap type of beat. It also has a nice mix between rap and vocals. Kerry Blu takes care of the verses rapping throughout the song, but the hook is covered by an unnamed R&B artist. The other thing that stands out in the song is the background conversation. Honestly, it is a bit confusing but is intriguing enough to make you keep listening and ask “What are they talking about?” However, after taking a deeper dive into the song, the background conversation speaks right into the point of the song, speaking of the journey of understanding your identity and your place in the world.
