When the Arizona music scene is mentioned, people automatically think of the Phoenix Metropolitan area and nothing else. This is a bit expected with Phoenix being the capital of the state. However, those who only focus on music artists making moves in the Phoenix area overlook, and deprive themselves of, the talent in other areas. Some of the artists that are often overlooked are those in the Tucson area. From my own experience, I believe this is a HUGE mistake.
What’s good Bird City, Happy New Year and welcome to 2019! I hope everyone made it into the new year without any issues and is ready for some new Arizona Hip-Hop! Right out the gate for 2019, we got the lyrical flame thrower, Fuego Bentley, and his new joint, “Trillssouri”. Rapping over the over Migos’ popular “Walk It, Like I talk it” beat, Fuego aggressively cements his place on the Arizona Hip-Hop scene taunting artists in the area right from the jump, “I’m the rapper that you rappers need to be afraid of/ singing to these women like I’m Keith Sweat, but I still keep the same buzz/”. Fuego keeps a machine gun pace with his lines throughout the entirety of “Trillssouri”, and the track maintains a high level of production value.
What’s good people of Phoenix, Arizona! Happy Holidays! It’s your homie, Bo, back again with some new Arizona heat for you to ride with. This week we take a quick foray into some new wave R&B with an upbeat banger from Sam Opoku, called “Find My Way”. This song could easily find itself on the soundtrack of a movie with its powerful message and solid execution of the song’s themes. The instrumentation alone incorporates a very jungle type vibe with deep drums, snaps, whistles, rain stick, and what I’m led to believe are panpipes. The overall sound of the song is both powerful, and a bit overcrowded at the same time. As a listener you get bit sucked in to everything going on in the background and potentially miss some incredible lyrics.
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, it’s that time again! Digging through the crates of Instagram, SoundCloud, YouTube, and Spotify to bring you the undiscovered gems of the AZ hip-hop scene, it’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s the THREE MINUTE MUSIC REVIEW! Ok that was lame, but this week’s joint will make up for that. “Destination” from E-Wulf featuring Breana Marin is an uplifting and powerful track that quickly catches your attention. It’s easy to hear the soul and power behind Briana Marin’s hook, and the quick beat of the drum mimic a heartbeat, instantly drawing you on.
Heads up that this candidate also came through another company. Her resume appears to be modified to group both recent roles with Wells Fargo into one role called Operational Risk Consultant. On your resume, she only had 3 months as an Operational Risk Consultant and on the other she has a year. She appears to have some tracking/reporting background, but if I go off the original resume, she only has 3 months experience in this area. I’m going to decline this candidate.

This week’s featured artist, CincoTheWolf, has created his own unique sound flowing over spacey, airy, beats that are perfect for riding to or relaxing. “Android 18” is the stand out track from Cinco’s recently release EP “Pre” and the song is a lot of fun. With laid back vocals matching a relaxed beat, Cinco gives his complementary thoughts on the evolving thickness of white women by comparing them to Android 18 of Dragon Ball Z lore. Dragon Ball Z has become very popular among hip-hop enthusiasts and artists alike, and it was very smart for Cinco to make a song around one of the characters.

This year has been a good one for the Arizona music scene. People have started to lend an ear to the many local artists grinding to make an impact with their music.
